Presentation: Rebooting Business: Valuing the Human Dimension
CIMA and AICPA surveyed 280 CEOs online from over 21 countries across the world to understand how they viewed current global challenges and what they saw as the priorities in leading their way through them. We followed this up with in-depth interviews with 17 CEO. Their overwhelming response was that the human dimensions of business will be the focus over the next 18-24 months. Our research explains how the human dimension is becoming far more important. The financial drivers retain their importance but the people-orientated factors have begun to achieve equal weight. Just as important, when combined with those factors such as marketing and distribution where the human dimension is growing, the non-financial perspective dwarfs the narrowly financial one

Speaker: Yogi Thakker, Strategic Client Director, Global Corporate Relations, CIMA

Panel Discussion: Industry Perspective
How is the industry contributing to ensuring a reliable supply of qualified talent for
the voice and non-voice sectors alike? What else needs to be done? How far does
the industry’s responsibility extend, and where and how should it rely on government
and private-sector educational institutions? How can the private sector increase
market awareness of IT-BPO as an attractive career opportunity, and build demand
for educational curricula that prepares them for these careers?

Presentation: Academe Perspective
The industry and the academe are working together to address talent gap in the IT-BPO industry. An example of this is the Advanced English Pre-Employment Training (AdEPT)* program, which prepares students for jobs in the industry and provides them with other requirements they need for career employment. But how ready are the students after they’ve finished the program? What are the concrete measures of their qualifications for an IT-BPO career? And what do we need to do to prepare for non-voice demand?

peaker: Atty. Carmelita Yadao-Sison, Director IV, Legal Services, Commission on Higher Education (CHED)

9:55-10:50 AM

Panel Discussion: Government Perspective
The administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III has acknowledged the
contribution of the IT-BPO industry to the economy and job generation.
As such, it is a priority development sector. A government-funded voucher
initiative has been reintroduced that provides funding for remedial training for
job applicants. An attractive investment incentive scheme demonstrates government’s
investor-friendly orientation. Now, what needs to be done to ensure long-term growth
of the industry? On the educational front? In ensuring an investor-friendly
environment. In improving the ease of doing business?
