Global Steel Philippines expands export market
Nov 27, 2006
Set to export CRC this month to Turkey, Vietnam, Egypt, Korea, U.S. and Brazil
(Manila, Philippines) — Steelmaker Global Steel Philippines, Inc. (GSPI) aims to increase exports this month, building on the export momentum realized during the first six months of the year.
Of total exports of cold rolled coils (CRC) scheduled in November, approximately 31 percent will go to Turkey. Other markets include Vietnam (22%), Egypt (18%), Brazil (13%), Korea (8%) and the U.S. (3%).
GSPI will also release its first shipment of hot rolled coils (HRC) to Egypt this November.
From January to August 2006, GSPI exported 174,104 MT of CRC to Indonesia, Italy, India, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and Dubai. “A further, significant increase in production and exports is naturally expected keeping in mind the large investment we have made in rehabilitating our Iligan plant,” said DPS Raghuvanshi, president of customer relationship marketing.
Raghuvanshi said that finished steel products are showing strong growth as consolidation in the global steel industry continues. “GSPI customers have benefited from the company’s aggressive pricing and adherence to international quality standards. The overseas market, in particular, appreciates our ability to deliver world-class products at affordable prices,” Raghuvanshi said.
High-level forward and backward integration, carefully chosen markets, superior logistics and customer service are the key factors to GSPI’s growth, said head of corporate communications Sangram Mohanty.
"We will continue to focus on growing export markets so that the Philippines will be less dependent on imports. We also aim to maximize value for our stakeholders by investing in the best technology and developing both the quality of our products and our people,” Mohanty said.
