Gunbound now the fastest growing online game in RP with over half a million
unique players a month
(Manila, Philippines) ― Mobius.ph released recently a second set of customized avatar items for casual online shooting game Gunbound Philippines. The items are based on popular basketball and hip-hop styles and include headgear and other accessories. The company introduced Gunbound’s first customized avatar items last March. Those items were based on traditional Philippine cultural icons.
Gunbound is the fastest growing online game in the Philippines with well over half a million unique users a month and 200,000 a day.
“We are taking steps to customize the content of Gunbound in order to make it more appealing and interesting to the local market. And response has been very positive ― these items are always much in-demand as soon as we release them. Gamers can look forward to more unique items as the months go by,” said Gregory Kittelson, product director for Gunbound at Mobius.ph, the online game division of Digital Media Exchange. Gunbound was created by South Korean game developer Softnyx and is played worldwide.
The newly introduced avatar items include hip-hop accessories such as afro hair, a bling-bling necklace over a t-shirt, a doo rag, basket jerseys, a basket hoop and a bouncing basketball.
Kittelson said that Mobius.ph will continue to introduce Philippine-themed content in the next month “in the form of backgrounds such as the urban skylines of Makati, Manila, and Ortigas; popular tourist destinations such as Baguio, Boracay, Bohol, and Cebu; and the famous natural wonder, Chocolate Hills.”
Mobius.ph will also launch in the next few month a new Pinoy mobile ― or tank ― in the form of either a jeepney, tricycle, or carabao. “The choice is in the hands of our gamers ― they can vote for their preferred mobile on our discussion board at www.mobius.ph,” said Kittelson.
“We believe that, aside from our dynamic online community, it is these new, exciting additions that account for Gunbound’s increasing popularity in the Philippines. Last month over half a million unique users played Gunbound ― and the numbers continue to rise this month. In fact, the Philippines has the most number of Gunbound players than any country publishing in Asia, even more than China,” dme chief executive Scott Countryman said.
Mobius.ph is supporting Gunbound café tournaments throughout the country to further strengthen the Gunbound community. “We give Internet café owners the autonomy and flexibility to set and run the tournaments as they see best fits their local community, while providing marketing support as well as rewards for tournament winners. We aim to be very visible and accessible at every local gaming café through the availability of our games and marketing collateral,” Countryman added.
