BPAP unveils new headquarters, holds dedication ceremony

Manila, Philippines — The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), the cross-sectoral association for the information technology and business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) and global in-house center (GIC) industry in the Philippines, welcomed partners and industry officials to the blessing and dedication ceremony of its new office at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

With the support of industry stakeholders and sponsors, BPAP and its partner associations—the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc., Contact Center Association of the Philippines, Game Developers Association of the Philippines, Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines, and Philippine Software Industry Association—expanded their space and operations to support the needs of the growing IT-BPO industry.

In September, BPAP announced the transfer of its office from Makati City to C2 Building, Bonifacio High Street, 30th Street corner 7th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City to fulfill its mission of providing support and assistance to its members, partner associations, foreign investors and global clients, government, and the estimated 770,000-strong IT-BPO workforce.

“The IT-BPO industry has greatly contributed to the country’s economic growth. With the Philippines’ impressive 7.1% growth in the third quarter of 2012, we continue to be inspired by what the country can become. We feel very honored to have a dedicated team of people on our side who are ready to make great things happen for this industry,” said BPAP president and CEO Benedict Hernandez.

BPAP chairman Alfredo Ayala, senior executive director Gillian Virata, and the organization’s executive directors and staff welcomed guests to the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony and shared their insights on the industry’s prospects. They also reviewed the progress made since Road Map 2010, which defined the target goals of US$25 billion in revenues and employment of 1.3 million by 2016.

The Philippine IT-BPO industry is expected to end 2012 with 772,000 full-time employees and over US$13 billion in revenues. In 2013, the industry aims to employ 926,000 full-time employees and earn US$16 billion.
