Challenge

As climate change becomes a more pressing global issue, non-profit and non-government organization The Climate Reality Project, founded in 2006 by Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore, aimed to spark conversation and turn awareness into action. In the Philippines, The Climate Reality Project initiated the “Let’s Talk Cleaner Energy” to raise awareness about coal’s harmful effects on the environment. For The Climate Reality Project, it is time to highlight everyone’s role in reducing carbon footprint and saving the planet.

Game Plan

To spark conversation and inspire action among the general public, TeamAsia mounted a booth activation on March 25 to 26, 2017 at the Activity Pod 2 in Bonifacio High Street. The dates were chosen as part of the Earth Hour initiatives.

The activity at the booth was striking for the simplicity and power of the way it drove the message home. Park-goers who went to the booth played a Kinect game driven by motion sensor. By waving their arms in 30 seconds or less, participants cleared the smog in cityscape photos they were presented with. After clearing the air, participants received a colorful photo of the cityscape they cleaned.

To drive the conversation online, TeamAsia also collaborated with influencers who actively support the advocacy of saving the planet. All the influencers posted about the campaign on their social media accounts and wrote about it in their blogs.

Game Plan

Results

A total of 304 participants joined the activity on both days of the booth activation. They also had their photos taken and signed up to support the advocacy. Because the influencers are really committed to the advocacy, they posted more tweets and posts than their agreed deliverables to involve their followers in the conversation. All the influencers’ posts reached a total engagement of 2,733 social media reactions, 12 shares, and 26 comments.
